Modelling:
This week I stared modelling out the key aspects of the environment, the walls and the fireplace. In my concept art I had the walls, doorways and table all come out from one piece of wood so I stared of the modelling in this was, extruding out shapes for the table, where the windows and desk will sit ect. the chimney stack I decide I would model separately.
The Windows:
The windows were the next thing I modelled after I got the base wall. I imported the concept art I did on an image plan so that I could make the window frame match as much as possible. I used a series of Booleans tools to model the shape. I first used cullers and shaped them to the holes in the window and then cut them out of a plane geo. This then needed to be leaned up so that when it was smoothed it held it shape.
The Workshop:
Once the windows were in place I worked on the desk. I still kept working from the walls to extrude the shapes of the shelves the table top and draw slots for the draws.
Draw Handles: Revolve Tool
The draw handles were the first thing I used to the revolve tool to model. I drew a simple curve in the orthographic view and used the revolve tool. I could then go on shaping the nurds created throughout the curve. I then converted the nurds to a poly, and then UV mapped it before duplicating it.
The Stairs:
These proved hard to model and required a few tires. The first time I made the stairs and the walls together as one piece and then wanted to fix then to the main wall. But because the geometry was of a particular nature the bevel tool refused to work on the steps- due to the fact they were attached to the walls.
Stairs Second Draft:
I fixed this by going building the stair walls and the sites separate but only attaching the walls tougher and never the stairs. This means that the stairs look like that are carved out of the wood more harshly that i would have liked but I have had to make comprises.
