Week 1: Research and Concepts

My digital environment is being made for characters that I started to design last term. I'm still not sure as their design but I've got a clear idea as to their environment.  I want to have a small homely cottage interior, probably a kitchen but also to have a place where the husband character can also work.

Much of my initial inspiration is coming form the illustrated tales of the Brambly Hedge tales by Jill Baklem. These are the stories of little mice living at the Brambly Hedge and their various adventurers but I have always like the homes. They are always full of food; drying apples, berries, leaves and mushrooms all much bigger than the charters because they are quite small, making the environments otherworldly.

They are simply furnished, nothing especially detailed by the environment is full of assists given it a 'lived in feel', like it is inhabited by creatures and this is what i could like to capture in my environment.

Some of my initial character designs also revel a little of the environment I have in mind. This is a female mouse character how is preciously decorating a cake while balancing on a stake of books and flour bags. These are the kind of assets which I will most likely us in the environment but I will come up with more designs as I complete more research.
