The CMI holds a competition with Ravensbourne students to create a 20 to 40s animation for an awards ceremony for the best Management Books. the animations get shown as part of the ceremony to introduce the winning books of various categories.
I decide to enter this competition and collaborate with a music composure Andrew Wells to produce an animation for a book called Decisive by Chris and Dan Heath.
I started the design process by completing some basic sketches based on the brief for the this book which was taken mostly from the blurb. This also helped me in making a script to emphasise the visuals.
Draft Script:
Are you having trouble deciding something.
Choices pulling you apart?
Can't decide on the best course of action?
A bit too over confident,
Or simply stuck in a narrow decision frame and need a little push?
Decisive by Chip and Dan Heath
Initial Sketches:
In order to collaborate with my music composure I decide to storyboard and create animatic so that a draft of the sound track could be made as quickly as possible. During this time I could start the production of the animation, aiming to complete the line animation first so that the final score could be composed, while this is done I add colour to the animation and complete the final composition.
